Comparison of Top 10 Affordable Open Access Publishers

Our ranking uses detailed quantitative and qualitative research of more than 50 international book publishers and compares them on eight key elements: academic prestige, number of publications, academic influence, specialization, royalty rates, global dissemination, author recognition, and publishing standards. The most important weighting on a top-level ranking reading of a research performance to date is given to academic reputation, judged by research, the university curriculum and citation numbers. Sources for data include industry standard databases (Scopus, Web of Science, JSTOR, Google Scholar), worldwide library catalogs such as the WorldCat and the Library of Congress; publisher statistics, university reading lists, and academic recognition awards. An impartial weighted average applies to each score and the final ranking is rounded to the nearest integer, however, to the highlights we applied a different mechanism based on the averaging calculations.
